Bob's Busy Schedule

After a hard day of playing, Bob likes to relax with some light reading and return phone calls.

Another week-end gone...

and it was a fun one! Angela Bauer got here Saturday safe and sound. We took her to the National Cathedral on Sunday for service. I took this picture of the sun coming through a window and I think it turned out well.

After service, we went to the Four Seasons Hotel for high tea. What a hoot! We all agreed we liked the smoked trout sandwiches and the pumpkin mousse covered in chocolate. On the way home, the PT Cruiser "broke" and would not shift out of first gear. That made for a long ride home! Thank heavens for warranties.

Monday we went to the Shrine of the Immaculant Conception on the campus of Catholic University of America. It is a bassilica (means that the Pope designated as such) and is the 8th largest church in the world. If you are ever in DC, you MUST see this. Absolutely incredible. Monday afternoon we went to Arlington Cemetary where the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Uknowns. All the pomp and ceremony was very impresive and moving. We were home in time for Angea to catch the new episode of Laguna Beach.

Today, Steve ran Angela up to the National 4-H center to begin her conference and I worked. The fun never ends here on Hunting Springs Farm!

Boring you with Bob

Bob has some buddies named Rope, Fat Cat and Chubby Hippo. They are not really buddies because Bob has to beat the crap out of these heinous characters at every opportunity. Sometimes he really has to chew them out. (Cracked myself up with that one - I shudder to think what Erin will say about that bad joke!)

Tuesday I took Bob to have his initial grooming. They shaved his back part (OK - his butt. There is no polite way to say it), which according to Bob, is not OK. Wednesday, I took him to the vet to be "fixed." Bob is not sure of the fascination for those particular areas of his body. He is sure that he is not happy with people messing with them. Yesterday we were outside when I noticed a very large bird overhead. I was watching the bird circle around when another joined it. They were doing a lovely bird ballet when a third came along. "Oh," I thought. "They are looking for bunnies. Hmmmm. There's no bunnies around only.....BOB!!!!!!" We beat it into the house quickly needless to say.

OK - there are other things in our life going on besides Bob (please don't tell him - he is still in that "I-am-the-center-of-the-universe" stage.). Steve is now the Youth Director at Durham Parish!! WOO HOO! He is very excited and I am excited for him. He really missed working with teenagers.

Tomorrow, Angela Bauer is coming for a visit before her leadship conference in DC. She will be here Saturday through Tuesday, and we are looking forward to her visit.

Fun plans to come: I am going to hear Jan Karon speak on December 6th at the National Cathedral. Also in December, we are going to go to a candlelight tour of Fredericksburg, VA. I think that will be very cool. November has the Quilt Quest which is a blast so we have lots to keep us busy until we can make it home to see all of you!!!

All about Bob

BOB IS HERE!!!! We thought we were going to have to wait another week, but lo and behold, here he is. And do not underestimate the Power of Bob; Steve lets him on the furniture. I know, you could have knocked me over with a feather too, but there it is. Steve even put Bob in the bed Sunday and Monday mornings. What the....?!?!?!

Today Bob goes to the goomer to get his extremly sharp puppy nails clipped and the fur between his toes clipped. Tomorrow he goes to the vet for the snip snip. Sucks to be him. Bob has only piddled in the house once, which is wonderful! I am concerned that he doesn't eat enough but I think it is because his old house let him "graze." That won't work here. Too many mice around to leave dog food out. I am sure he will figure it out.

Next he'll be taking wooden nickels!

Well - as we all know, Dad fell down and broke his hip. After all those years of Grandma Geneva telling us all not to fall down and break our leg what did he do?!?! He fell down and broke his leg. Next he'll be taking wooden nickels - another no-no in his mother's book.

Saturday was spent working at the quilt shop. Fun as usual! I picked out fabric for yet another class I am going to take; a jacket out of flannel. The weather is cooling off quickly and this will be a great thing to have!!

Sunday was full of events: church, Lobster Feast, Oktober Fest, and a concert. We only made it to two of those, but we commented that there is always so much to do and pick from!

Tonight is Daughters of the King where I will be teaching 30 people how to make Anglican Rosaries. I am worried that we will have enough time for everyone to do one. I have handouts etc. all ready. Steve is going to go to the Men's Meeting that is at the same time, so it will be fun to ride together.

TWO MORE WEEKS AND BOB WILL BE HERE!!!

Another fascinating week-end!

OK not really, but Steve did walk a goat. That, my friends, would have been a site to see! The goats from around the corner paid us a visit ( as in up on the porch eating the plants), so Steve had to grab the big one's lead and walk them back around to where they belong. Why, oh why, do these things happen when there is no camera?

Sunday we went to IKEA. Apparently they were worried that we had not been there in a while (not really, but I am surprised they didn't call to make sure wer were OK). We now have a new kitchen table and chairs. Fun stuff that IKEA has.

THE COUNT DOWN TO BOB BEGINS!!!

Boy, am I going to be sore!

So....I joined gym and went to work out for the first time this morning. I can already tell that I am going to be way sore in the morning (if not by 7 o'clock tonight). It's an "all ladies" gym, but I really like it because there are no 98 pound blondes in sports bras and spandex pants there. I guess they are all at the co-ed gym showing off t! Just as well; I felt self-conscious enough.

Still waiting on the arrival of Bob. Only 3 more weeks! Not as exciting as having Theo visit, but an OK 2nd choice.

And the winner is!

Steve and I went to the Charles County Fair last night to watch the 4-H Dairy Goat show. Excitement knows no bounds here at Hunting Springs Farm! Our neighbor's children won their classes (8-year olds, and 11-year olds) and the 11-year old won Reserve Grand Champion. BIG doings! We actually had a really good time!

Wish that we could get some rain; Ophelia completely missed us. Many people have said that the fall color will not be as pretty this year because it has been so dry. That is really too bad, because last year it was stunning!

I work tomorrow but hopefully Sunday Steve and I will have an adventure. There is an arts fair at Annmarie Gardents on Solomons Island that I would like to check out....

So - we met Bobbin today....

and he is officially a HE. I know, I was surprised myself, but he was the sweetest one, and has a fun personality. I can't wait to bring him home!

That was the most excitement of the day. We did go to the Charlotte Hall "Farmers Market" which is actually a ginormous flea market with more crap than you can imagine. I had to take a shower when we got home it was so icky.

Today we are going to Old Durham for the installation of new Daughters of the King members. This is a great church - lots of positive energy. SO very different from the last one!!!

let's talk about....

Terrell Owens. That guy has really gotten my goat!!!! How much freakin' money does a guy need??? Now he says that he "plans" to talk to McNabb. Big @#$% deal. I am sure McNabb wishes TO would just fall off the face of the earth; I know I do. What a weenie.

What about Bob(bin)??

Yes it is true, we are going to get a dog. Or as Erin says, "Sick, Mom. It's a piece of fluff." True, but it will be OUR piece of fluff.

We have had a request to blog our week-end adventures, so here goes:

Saturday I had to work so Steve took me since I had my embroidery machine etc. (for a class) to haul in. While he was there, he helped Mr. Mike put together some shelves. Long story short, Steve ended up slicing his thumb open and having two stitches. Not a great way to start a long week-end.

Sunday we went to.....IKEA! I LOVE that place! We bought some shelves to go in the sewing room to try to control the chaos (HA!) and some kitchen stuff. I could spend days and thousands of $$ in that place. After that we went over to Crate and Barrel to see their fall stuff. Too pretty and too expensive! Then we drove back to Hughesville.

Monday was spent rearranging the furniture in the living room and cleaning. I know all of you children are sdo sorry that you missed that adventure ;-) . We went into town for a little bit, and STEVE found a bed for the dog. Could it be that he is warming up to the idea? Probably not.

I could post pictures of the most intelligent child around, but his Mom does a much better job so check out her blog!

Katrina

I do not even know how to express the feelings I am having about this whole Katrina thing. I think mostly I am scared. Scared that the anarchy that is running rampant in New Orleans will spill over to the rest of the world. Look how easily it happened there. And would I be any different/better than those poor people at handling the situation? Hard to tell.

Gasoline is $3.34 a gallon here. That means that on my days off I am sitting right here. At least I will get some projects done! I have been having an EXTREMLY bad case of homesickness for the past couple of weeks so keeping busy is a good thing.

Decided to add some pictures of quilts. This first one is of my mom with the very first quilt I made. It is SO very wonky!!!! But the great thing about moms is that they/we love everything their/our children make so it was OK. Yes, I plan to make her another now that my quilting skills have improved (somewhat).

OK, I have a blog. Now what do I do?

Does anyone really want to read the ramblings of this pea brain. Don't answer that, it might depress me too much.

Guess I will put stuff on here so you can find out what is (or what is not) going on here in Maryland
