New Sewing Room for my Birthday!!

Note that Bob's Bed is strategically placed under the ironing board. The box leaning up against the closet door is a shelf with a light under it that will go above the sewing machines

Yes, the pillow is too big for the chair, but I can't figure out where to put it. My fabulous leopard stole is over the back of the chair in case I need it. One never knows when one will be called upon to be a diva. And we all know that a leopard stole is a MUST for divas!!

My magic Peacock Feather Open (thanks Dawn)

is hanging from my lamp.

I have a cool new thing that holds my drink and bits of thread that I got from Barbara (friend from the Quilt Shop) on the end of the table. I don't know where she got it, but it is a pretty neat thing for crafters or airplane builders. The basket to the left of the uncovered sewing machine is for current projects. NO NEW PROJECTS UNTIL THE PRIOR ONES ARE COMPLETED.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR HELPING MY DREAM

SEWING ROOM BECOME A REALITY!

AND THANK YOU, STEVE, FOR PUTTING IT

ALL TOGETHER FOR ME!!

My 7 Things

7 things that happened in 2005 that changed your life for the better:

1. of course, everyone's number 1...THEO...no explaination required. (This was stolen directly from Andrea's Blog!)
2. I joined a gym and have half way been diligent about going. Better than the zero way I was going before!
3. Daughters of the King - What a great group of women to share with
4. This has not changed but remained constant for 10 years: Steve.
5. Bob!
6. Living in this area has forced me to go out exploring on my own and I am better at it than ever!
7. Blogs!
7 1/2. Terrell Owens (HATE that guy) got fired.

7 things that happened in 2005 that could have turned out better:

1. Procrastinated less
2. Katrina
3. Rita.
4. The famous Christmas wreck of 2005.
5. Frank...so sorry that he is gone.

Even manly men such as John and Adam succumb to the
Power of Theo!

HOW cute is this Santa?!
Here I am teaching Theo ancient wisdom: "I know my soul, I know my mind, I know that I stick out behind." Well learned little Grasshopper...

Packed and ready to go!

And get this: I only packed 3 pairs of shoes. I know, I am as surprised as anybody else! But 3 pairs of shoes for a 4 day trip is about right. And I can always run out and get more if I need to ;)

I took Bob up to Steve's office to give him to Chris. She and her daughter Madison, her husband Joel, her basset Lucy, and her lhasa apso Frodo will be dog-sitting Bob while we are gone. I just hope that he doesn't have such a good time that he doesn't want to come home! On Saturday, the entire family (dogs included) are going to Manassas VA for Christmas Eve. That little dog soiree will be hosted by Jujube, a 4 pound Manchester terrier. And we thought WE were going to have a good time....

7 Days

Christmas is in 7 days. Am I ready? Why no, but thank you for asking. What is it that causes us to put off the inevitable and then become crazed idiots? It's not like they move Christmas every year and we don't know when it will be. I have been sending out Advent meditations to fellow Daughters of the King members (and others), and you would think that would have caused me to really pause and reflect about the "reason for the season." Unfortunately, it has not. I am still as obsessed as the next poor soul with the seasonal panic.

I would have loved to participte more in the cultural offerings in DC at this time of year, but claim that I have no time. What I am doing in lieu of this? Running around trying to figure out what project to work on next and, consequently, getting none of it done. There has got to be a better way. When I figure it out, I will let you know.

Erin is right

Upon further reflection and inspection of Bob's moustache, Erin is right. He is much too much white bread to look like Dali. He looks like vanDykes equestrian portraint of Charles I. Right down to the goatee. Sorry for misleading everyone to thinking that my dog is hipper than he really is.

I am getting a cold - Not OK

I knew this would happen: I am getting a cold before I leave for Oklahoma City. This, my friends, sucks. No pretty way to put it, it just sucks. Erin ordered me to stay in the house and drink tea. Given her current mood about her finals, I think I will placate her and do just that.

Steve, fabulous husband that he is, gave me my Christmas present early!! It is an iPod Nano, and I am very excited! I think I have actually figured out how to make it update only the playlists that I want, not the entire library. Baby steps here people.

On a funny note, Bob needs a hair cut, but with the hair on his face so long he has a moustache like Salvador Dali's. I find it quite amusing. Then again, could be the cold medicine....

Previous post

The previous post has been edited, and the inflammatory remarks removed. The author apologizes for any perceived crassness on her part.

Please don't key Erin's car.

What is it about Christmas?

I guess the question should be, "What is it about Holidays?" since all this starts to happen from Thanksgiving on.

I am pretty happy with my life.

My Sunday adventure

Today I went with my friends, Carol and Debra, to Frederickburg where we toured historic homes that had been "done" for the holidays. It was very strange. I expected the houses to have been restored and historically accurate. Turns out they were renovated, and decorated from soup to nuts.

One house, owned by people who are obviously proud of their potties, had a toilet lid that was completely covered in real red roses. The symbolism there is beyond my comprehension or ability to fully comment on. This is a picture of a porch, beautifully decorated, that wasn't on the tour, but I felt was the prettiest one there!

I've been mauled!!!

OK - if you are a guy STOP READING NOW. None of it will make sense. Of course, it might help you to understand why women are as we are.

Ladies: I vote we all write Oprah and tell her "BOO." After watching her show, I determined that I needed to be "fit" for a bra. After all, OPRAH said it so it has to be. She has GOT to stop putting these ideas into our heads.

Well, I went to the local department store, innocently enough, and to the lingerie department. When the lady asked me what I was there for, I calmly (and like the adult I am) explained that I would like to be fit for a bra. In fact, I think my EXACT words were, "I believe that I need to be fit for a bra so I am sure that I am purchasing, and wearing, the correct size." The woman then GRABBED my BOOBS with BOTH her hands and said, "Oh honey, these need to be a LOT higher up!" OK - in my original question was there any invitation to actually touch my boobs???? I think not.

So after I sucked all the air from Hecht's, I told her I really did not want them coming out of my collar bones, as she had suggested. (I should have just asked her to do my pelvic exam while I was there since she had given me a thorough lump check for free. I am not sure my insurance would have covered her though.)

Suffice it to say that this was one of the most disturbing experiences I have had since I moved to Maryland. Hell, this was one of the most disturbing experiences I have had in my LIFE. After recounting my trauma to Steve, I realized that it was a God's blessing that he was not there when this happened, as he nearly choked to death laughing just hearing about it. (Life Lesson # bajillion: Don't take men shopping for "utility" undergarments. Only the fun stuff.)

Heed my warning: stand VERY far away from the sales clerk when (and if) you go for a fitting. Behind a fixture would be good.

Yes, my bra fits better. No, I will never be able to go into that Hecht's again.

Graduation Pic!

Here Bob and I are at Puppy Class Graduation! We had fun and learned many things, two of which were: 1) the big dogs don't care if you are cute and little, they will bite you anyway, 2) people will feed you great treats if you just walk up to them, sit, and look at them expectantly. This also works well at PetsMart.

Hopefully, we will start Good Manners class in January, then move on to Better Manners. I would like to check into the whole Therapy dog thing. I am not sure if Bob would make a good one or not, he is so young yet. Time shall tell...

What great kids we have!

I just finished checking everyone's blog (because that is what I do first thing in the morning), and I am struck by how smart, funny and self-realized all our kids are. I can't check John's blog of course, but I am certainly including him in the group. if we could just get him pointed where he would really excel.... Anyway, dork that I am, it brought a little tear to my eye.

I am spending the day finishing up sewing projects. It is supposed to sleet and snow tonight, so, to comply with federal law, I will have to go to the grocery at some point. We are dropping Steve's car off this evening at Best Buy so they can install the remote starter I got him for Christmas. This way, he can start the car from the house and let it thaw before he heads out, and not have to stand there and scrape it in the nasty weather. I thought it was a brilliant idea myself.

I am also going to find a kennel to leave Bob at for our trip. Friends, we are in the wrong business. Do you have any idea how expensive it is? And then you have to pay an extra $5 so they will play with your dog for 15 minutes a day outside of his cage. PLUS an additional $2 a day if you want him fed more than once! Crazy.

Snow down on the farm

Here it is: this is what 6 - 8 inches of snow looks like down on the farm! Today will be spent drinking all that hot chocolate I bought yesterday, sewing, and napping. It's good to have a plan.

First snow of the season!

It is snowing to beat the band here; beautiful big fluffy flakes!! Not those pitiful flakes we get back in civilization. I went to the grocery store (apparently there is a federal law that dictats that even the mere MENTION of snow requires all citizens to go to the grocery store to buy as much stuff as you can cram into your carts), and on the way home I counted 10 trucks armed with snowplows ready to go! At least they know how to clean up after it here.

So my friends, I am making potato soup and watching it snow. Not a bad afternoon!

Am I blue.....

Why yes I am. I think part of it is because there are no holiday decorations at my house, and part of it is I am homesick/lonely/bored...whatever you want to call it. Having a little pity party today - tomorrow will be another day!

Last night was UFO (Un-Finished Object) night at the quilt store. The goal is to finish a project you have been working on. Apparently, my "project" was to stuff as much food into myself as possible. There was some tiramisu there that was AWESOME! A lady who is a personal chef brought it and it was to die for. Amy bought Robin a chocolate fountain for Christmas and it was in fine form last night as well. Mike fried a turkey, I took French dip sandwiches, it was gluttony all around!

Tonight we are going to Fr David and Betty MacDonald's open house, which should be fun. They are super people and we are enjoying the parish a lot.

Off to sew and play with Bob!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving all! I am blogging away as the smell of roast turkey permeats our little house. Football is on the TV, the pies are cooling, God is in His heavan, and all is right with the world!

Things for which I am thankful include:

My family but especially:
my wonderful husband
that my father's hip replacement went so well
that my mother got to come and visit me
that my sister and her family are healthy and happy
that my grandchild has such a wonderful mother and father
that I can communicate with my children
My health
Friends, both old and new
A great new church home.

What are YOU thankful for? I know that there is a lot that I missed, and I am sure that if we all sat down and really counted our blessings we would be amazed and humbled by how many we have.

Update on Our Doings

Granny and Clay got here Monday evening and it was great to see them!! Tuesday they went to see some of Clay's old stomping grounds and we went to Captain John's for dinner. Pretty much like Shymansky's, but a little better "ambiance. They decided to head back to OKC today to beat the forecasted snow. I was sad to see them leave early, but completely understand that "get out of the way of the snow" thing!!

Monday I took Bob to the "spa" where they got water in his ears. Hence, yesterday, I had to take him to the vet for infections in both his ears! BOO! I will not be going back to that groomer, needless to say. Now I have to wrestle him down and put drops in his ears twice a day. Not OK.

We are going to have a quiet Thanksgiving - both of us have 4 days off! IKEA will have to be visited I have no doubt!

The camera has been found!

Three really cute kids, Andrea, Theo, and Erin, in front of the Oklahoma pillar at the WWII memorial. Very impressive memorial and very sad to think of the lives that were lost during that time.
Theo and his Auntie Erin in front of the White House. He assures me that someday he will be living there and I can come to visit. And unlike Billary, he won't charge me to stay!!

Here is a picture of some of the beautiful fall color we saw. I was mocked quite unmercilessly about my excitement and delight a the hues of nature (yes, Erin, I am speaking of YOU).

This is a picture of Theo's first ride on the Metro. Oh, that we could all see DC pushed around while in a reclining position, every whim being catered to, and being treated like a royalty. Hmmm...Hilary and Bill pretty much did that during their reign of terror.

What a GREAT Week-end

Last Thursday, on Steve's birthday, Erin, Andrea, and Theo flew in to surprise him. And surprised he was!! He could not believe that 1) they had done that, and 2) that I had not blown the secret. It was not easy let me assure you - as you know I tell Steve EVERYTHING. But this time I did manage to keep my mouth shut and it was worth the effort! I am sure that Erin and Andrea will blog there adventures much better than I can, so check their sites as well. I will post pictures as soon as I can find the camera....

HA HA TO!!!

As we know, I cannot STAND Terrell Owens. Turns out, that a lot of folks agree. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Whether he's been dancing on the Cowboys' star logo at Texas Stadium's midfield, calling out his quarterbacks in San Francisco and Philadelphia or taking repeated shots at the Eagles as an organization, Terrell Owens has been quite the controversial figure in his 10-year NFL career. Our Bristol experts weigh in on the latest Owens controversy and his tenure in the city known (almost all of the time) for brotherly love.
Theismann: Time to grow up, shut up, or leave I left meetings with the Eagles coaches and players at 6:45 p.m ET. These meetings were set up for our Sunday Night Football game between the Eagles and the Redskins. Of course, once the news was announced that T.O. was suspended, the meetings took on an entirely different spin because now we wanted to know what the players and coaches were thinking about this new situation. Lemme tell you, there is a sense of relief on this team now that Owens is gone for however long.
Owens has taken the fun out of the Eagles. This is a team that features a fun-loving Donovan McNabb, an always-smiling Jeremiah Trotter, and Brian Westbrook, who always seems happy. Owens' constant harping and complaining had taken its toll on this team because it never knew what was going to happen next. He was the Grinch Who Stole Christmas on this team.
The Eagles are already in a dire situation because they are a beat-up football team playing in a division that is the class of the NFL. The last thing this team needs is more distractions, particularly from a guy who should be a leader on this team. Today was a perfect example, because instead of having game-planning sessions with the crew from SNF, they had to deal with other issues.
Over the past four years the Eagles have built a family organization that has allowed players to leave and come back. Sure, they have been strict in their business dealings, but that's why this team has been so successful over the past few seasons. Hugh Douglas left the Eagles and went to play for the Jaguars, and he told me he talked to his friends on the Eagles every day before he came back. The Eagles are the essence of a family in the NFL and Owens either doesn't get it or doesn't want to get it.
It's a shame, really, because Owens is the most physically gifted receiver in the game today. He's big, fast, tough, strong, has great hands, and wants to be the best, but he's stupid. It absolutely amazes me that someone who has so much to give to a team continues to take away. Never in my 31 years around the professional game of football have I seen such a waste and such a degree of selfishness.
My hat is off to Andy Reid and McNabb because they are class acts dealing with a guy who has no class. As much as Owens thinks that this game revolves around him, he's sadly mistaken and the tragedy is he's going to wake up some day and realize the game of professional football doesn't need him and neither does McNabb. Owens needs McNabb a whole lot more than McNabb needs him.
The biggest question is still left to be answered, and that's what happens to T.O. after this? Precedent was set by Jon Gruden when he let Keyshawn Johnson leave the team when he wouldn't accept the team concept. The next season, Johnson was with the Dallas Cowboys and his old coach Bill Parcells. I'm not sure who would want Owens, though. He's thrown Jeff Garcia under the bus and waited for the buses to line up to pick up kids to throw McNabb under them. If I was a quarterback and he became my teammate, I'd look out for buses because nothing has changed. This is just T.O. being T.O. It's time for him to grow up, shut up or leave.-- Joe Theismann
Salisbury: Happy occasion for PhillyI couldn't be happier for the Philadelphia Eagles organization for finally making the right choice and getting rid of T.O. If I was the coach of the Eagles, I would make sure this was a permanent suspension and that the fans of the Eagles would never see Owens in an Eagles uniform again.
Owens isn't just a cancer, he's a terminal cancer in a locker room. He has the maturity of a 7-year-old and it looks like he'll never mature. I used to think he was worth the trouble, but he's proven me wrong as he went from punking his teammates to punking the organization. He's the ultimate I-guy in a game that is the ultimate we-sport.
I'm tired of hearing him blame the way he acts on his upbringing, because there are tons of players in the NFL who act like teammates who have had similar upbringings. He needs to stop using that as an excuse because it's completely bogus. He's officially alienated everyone now and has become the most reviled person in sports. Heck, the perception of Barry Bonds (who I happen to like) is of a choirboy compared to Owens right now.
What's really sad is how predictable Owens has become, though. This is the exact same script he followed in San Francisco, where he started out by taking shots at the quarterback (Jeff Garcia) and then turned on the rest of the locker room. Everything is everybody else's fault and there's no way that he's to blame for anything.
I remember when Owens was leaving the 49ers and couldn't stop talking about how much he loved Donovan McNabb. Now he acts like the guy ran over his dog or something. Let's be honest here -- this isn't about McNabb or Garcia, it's about Owens. If he was with the Patriots he'd hate Tom Brady, if he was with the Colts he'd hate Peyton Manning. Heck, if he was with the Packers he'd hate Brett Favre. This is who Owens is and no team should have to stand for it because as great a receiver as he is, he's 10 times worse as a teammate.
I will say this: I don't blame the Eagles organization for taking a chance by bringing him into the fold. He's a great talent and his problems with the 49ers at the time could've been a one-time thing. The Eagles thought he was the missing link to their hopes of winning the NFC championship and possibly a Super Bowl. They did win an NFC title even though he didn't play in it because of injury, and he performed exceptionally well in the Super Bowl. But it's time for the nonsense to stop. I can't see a way where he can be a part of the Eagles next season.
I just wish he was on one of the old Raiders or Steelers teams where a guy like Howie Long or Mean Joe Greene would slam him against a locker and tell him to just shut up and play football.-- Sean Salisbury
Schlereth: Eagles will be better without T.O. Terrell Owens' suspension is a message from the organization to the rest of the team. If the Eagles are going to make the playoffs, then they are going to do it as a cohesive unit. This could be a galvanizing moment for this coaching staff and the 52 other players on the team. This could get everybody refocused because there are two types of people in the world: energy drainers and energy enhancers. Owens is an energy drainer and he's sucked the life out of this organization with his constant complaining and harping.
This is a better football team without him because, first and foremost, you can't have a guy that selfish and that big of a distraction on a team and expect to be successful. He detracts from what the Eagles need to do as a team. He's a large part of the reason why this team has lost its offensive balance and looks to pass all the time. His great talent, combined with his ability to whine if the ball doesn't come his way, forces a team to get him the ball. Now the Eagles are going to have to become more reliant on the running game and become a more balanced football team.
Everyone says that Brian Westbrook can't take the pounding, but Warrick Dunn has proven that a little running back can do it. This organization must start making it a priority to run the football if it wants to return to greatness. I don't think Westbrook has ever gotten the opportunity to carry the ball 22 or 23 times a game and that's wrong. I'm sure that, if given the opportunity, he can be quite effective and will continue to be one of the most dangerous players in football. Sometimes those shifty guys can make people miss in between the tackles. The presence of a running game would also take pressure off the injured McNabb. Right now, he's taking way too many hits because this team chooses to throw the ball so often. With an effective running game, most of those hits will go away.
That said, there will be another team out there that will take a chance on him because he's one of the most supremely gifted athletes in the world. There will be a team out there that believes it can utilize his skills, but it's going to see the same attitude from him that he showed in Philadelphia and San Francisco.-- Mark Schlereth
Hoge: Bridge 'completely' burned I'll be shocked if we ever see Terrell Owens in an Eagles uniform again. He's going to have to be traded because he's completely burned the bridge with this organization and his teammates.
When the Eagles and coach Andy Reid allowed Owens to come back after a chaotic offseason spent bashing the organization and players, they set themselves up for this to happen. I said then that the organization was going to have to deal with the T.O. mess eventually, and now Philadelphia is dealing with him. This team should've put its foot down earlier and made sure this didn't happen again by either trading him or suspending him for a couple games.
Instead, the Eagles sent him home, let him off with a lazy apology and showed him that he was more important than the team. That was a mistake, but it's good to see that they've rectified it, albeit too late.
What's really sad is that Owens is an amazingly talented receiver. He puts in a ton of time making sure that he's in great shape and he could've owned the city if he would've kept his mouth shut. This is a town that wants a championship badly and wants players who are hard workers and who play hard every play. After his great play in the Super Bowl it was all set up for him. Instead of recognizing this, he alienated yet another set of fans.
If the Eagles are smart, they'll try to get a power running back for Owens. Unfortunately for them, if the Randy Moss trade is any barometer, the market for a talented but troublesome receiver may be limited.-- Merril Hoge

Homesick for people with manners

OK - I am sick of east-coasters and their rude behavior. I am 25 miles from our nation's capital, and it is no wonder to me that we are as screwed up as a county as we are when I witness all the RUDE people here. People will say ANYTHING....there is absolutely no filter between the brain and the mouth. I had someone come up to me the other day and tell me my hair looked like sh*t! WHAT!?!? In the great state of Oklahoma, and in every other civilized part of the country, this crap would not fly. Even if my hair DOES look like sh*t, no one would just say that to me like they were asking the time of day. And the children - if I had talked like that to my mother I promise you that my mouth would have been slapped onto the back of my head. Everyone here is "entitled;" entitled say whatever floate into their pea brain, even if it hurts someone else. At least in Oklahoma they would say it behind my back and not to my face which is EVER so much better! And if someone if talking about you, people here delight in telling you all the gory details over, and over, and over again because they are sure "you would want to know."

I don't want to know. Ignorance truly is bliss.

Enough of the rant.

Last night was another puppy class - a St. Bernard has joined us. Twenty-two pounds at 9 weeks. Keep Bob and me in your prayers.

Happy Halloween!!

Ours was pretty uneventful, but I hope yours was full of scary giraffs and other goblins!

The three children down the road came by; what a hoot! Their parents were driving a tractor pulling a flatbed trailer. On the trailer were bails of hay set in a circle and jack-o-latterns. There were about 7 kids and four adults, and it looked like they were having a blast! What great memories those children will have of Halloween WITH their parents.

Bob and I have started puppy classes. He is, by far, the smallest dog there. There is a doberman, a border collie, and a husky! Bob and the husky, Fletcher, have a grand a glorious time off leash. they jump and play and it is amazing that Fletcher hasn't decided that Bob would make a great mouthful!

Off to work out this morning and other excitement!

Bob's Busy Schedule

After a hard day of playing, Bob likes to relax with some light reading and return phone calls.

Another week-end gone...

and it was a fun one! Angela Bauer got here Saturday safe and sound. We took her to the National Cathedral on Sunday for service. I took this picture of the sun coming through a window and I think it turned out well.

After service, we went to the Four Seasons Hotel for high tea. What a hoot! We all agreed we liked the smoked trout sandwiches and the pumpkin mousse covered in chocolate. On the way home, the PT Cruiser "broke" and would not shift out of first gear. That made for a long ride home! Thank heavens for warranties.

Monday we went to the Shrine of the Immaculant Conception on the campus of Catholic University of America. It is a bassilica (means that the Pope designated as such) and is the 8th largest church in the world. If you are ever in DC, you MUST see this. Absolutely incredible. Monday afternoon we went to Arlington Cemetary where the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Uknowns. All the pomp and ceremony was very impresive and moving. We were home in time for Angea to catch the new episode of Laguna Beach.

Today, Steve ran Angela up to the National 4-H center to begin her conference and I worked. The fun never ends here on Hunting Springs Farm!

Boring you with Bob

Bob has some buddies named Rope, Fat Cat and Chubby Hippo. They are not really buddies because Bob has to beat the crap out of these heinous characters at every opportunity. Sometimes he really has to chew them out. (Cracked myself up with that one - I shudder to think what Erin will say about that bad joke!)

Tuesday I took Bob to have his initial grooming. They shaved his back part (OK - his butt. There is no polite way to say it), which according to Bob, is not OK. Wednesday, I took him to the vet to be "fixed." Bob is not sure of the fascination for those particular areas of his body. He is sure that he is not happy with people messing with them. Yesterday we were outside when I noticed a very large bird overhead. I was watching the bird circle around when another joined it. They were doing a lovely bird ballet when a third came along. "Oh," I thought. "They are looking for bunnies. Hmmmm. There's no bunnies around only.....BOB!!!!!!" We beat it into the house quickly needless to say.

OK - there are other things in our life going on besides Bob (please don't tell him - he is still in that "I-am-the-center-of-the-universe" stage.). Steve is now the Youth Director at Durham Parish!! WOO HOO! He is very excited and I am excited for him. He really missed working with teenagers.

Tomorrow, Angela Bauer is coming for a visit before her leadship conference in DC. She will be here Saturday through Tuesday, and we are looking forward to her visit.

Fun plans to come: I am going to hear Jan Karon speak on December 6th at the National Cathedral. Also in December, we are going to go to a candlelight tour of Fredericksburg, VA. I think that will be very cool. November has the Quilt Quest which is a blast so we have lots to keep us busy until we can make it home to see all of you!!!

All about Bob

BOB IS HERE!!!! We thought we were going to have to wait another week, but lo and behold, here he is. And do not underestimate the Power of Bob; Steve lets him on the furniture. I know, you could have knocked me over with a feather too, but there it is. Steve even put Bob in the bed Sunday and Monday mornings. What the....?!?!?!

Today Bob goes to the goomer to get his extremly sharp puppy nails clipped and the fur between his toes clipped. Tomorrow he goes to the vet for the snip snip. Sucks to be him. Bob has only piddled in the house once, which is wonderful! I am concerned that he doesn't eat enough but I think it is because his old house let him "graze." That won't work here. Too many mice around to leave dog food out. I am sure he will figure it out.

Next he'll be taking wooden nickels!

Well - as we all know, Dad fell down and broke his hip. After all those years of Grandma Geneva telling us all not to fall down and break our leg what did he do?!?! He fell down and broke his leg. Next he'll be taking wooden nickels - another no-no in his mother's book.

Saturday was spent working at the quilt shop. Fun as usual! I picked out fabric for yet another class I am going to take; a jacket out of flannel. The weather is cooling off quickly and this will be a great thing to have!!

Sunday was full of events: church, Lobster Feast, Oktober Fest, and a concert. We only made it to two of those, but we commented that there is always so much to do and pick from!

Tonight is Daughters of the King where I will be teaching 30 people how to make Anglican Rosaries. I am worried that we will have enough time for everyone to do one. I have handouts etc. all ready. Steve is going to go to the Men's Meeting that is at the same time, so it will be fun to ride together.

TWO MORE WEEKS AND BOB WILL BE HERE!!!

Another fascinating week-end!

OK not really, but Steve did walk a goat. That, my friends, would have been a site to see! The goats from around the corner paid us a visit ( as in up on the porch eating the plants), so Steve had to grab the big one's lead and walk them back around to where they belong. Why, oh why, do these things happen when there is no camera?

Sunday we went to IKEA. Apparently they were worried that we had not been there in a while (not really, but I am surprised they didn't call to make sure wer were OK). We now have a new kitchen table and chairs. Fun stuff that IKEA has.

THE COUNT DOWN TO BOB BEGINS!!!

Boy, am I going to be sore!

So....I joined gym and went to work out for the first time this morning. I can already tell that I am going to be way sore in the morning (if not by 7 o'clock tonight). It's an "all ladies" gym, but I really like it because there are no 98 pound blondes in sports bras and spandex pants there. I guess they are all at the co-ed gym showing off t! Just as well; I felt self-conscious enough.

Still waiting on the arrival of Bob. Only 3 more weeks! Not as exciting as having Theo visit, but an OK 2nd choice.

And the winner is!

Steve and I went to the Charles County Fair last night to watch the 4-H Dairy Goat show. Excitement knows no bounds here at Hunting Springs Farm! Our neighbor's children won their classes (8-year olds, and 11-year olds) and the 11-year old won Reserve Grand Champion. BIG doings! We actually had a really good time!

Wish that we could get some rain; Ophelia completely missed us. Many people have said that the fall color will not be as pretty this year because it has been so dry. That is really too bad, because last year it was stunning!

I work tomorrow but hopefully Sunday Steve and I will have an adventure. There is an arts fair at Annmarie Gardents on Solomons Island that I would like to check out....

So - we met Bobbin today....

and he is officially a HE. I know, I was surprised myself, but he was the sweetest one, and has a fun personality. I can't wait to bring him home!

That was the most excitement of the day. We did go to the Charlotte Hall "Farmers Market" which is actually a ginormous flea market with more crap than you can imagine. I had to take a shower when we got home it was so icky.

Today we are going to Old Durham for the installation of new Daughters of the King members. This is a great church - lots of positive energy. SO very different from the last one!!!

let's talk about....

Terrell Owens. That guy has really gotten my goat!!!! How much freakin' money does a guy need??? Now he says that he "plans" to talk to McNabb. Big @#$% deal. I am sure McNabb wishes TO would just fall off the face of the earth; I know I do. What a weenie.

What about Bob(bin)??

Yes it is true, we are going to get a dog. Or as Erin says, "Sick, Mom. It's a piece of fluff." True, but it will be OUR piece of fluff.

We have had a request to blog our week-end adventures, so here goes:

Saturday I had to work so Steve took me since I had my embroidery machine etc. (for a class) to haul in. While he was there, he helped Mr. Mike put together some shelves. Long story short, Steve ended up slicing his thumb open and having two stitches. Not a great way to start a long week-end.

Sunday we went to.....IKEA! I LOVE that place! We bought some shelves to go in the sewing room to try to control the chaos (HA!) and some kitchen stuff. I could spend days and thousands of $$ in that place. After that we went over to Crate and Barrel to see their fall stuff. Too pretty and too expensive! Then we drove back to Hughesville.

Monday was spent rearranging the furniture in the living room and cleaning. I know all of you children are sdo sorry that you missed that adventure ;-) . We went into town for a little bit, and STEVE found a bed for the dog. Could it be that he is warming up to the idea? Probably not.

I could post pictures of the most intelligent child around, but his Mom does a much better job so check out her blog!

Katrina

I do not even know how to express the feelings I am having about this whole Katrina thing. I think mostly I am scared. Scared that the anarchy that is running rampant in New Orleans will spill over to the rest of the world. Look how easily it happened there. And would I be any different/better than those poor people at handling the situation? Hard to tell.

Gasoline is $3.34 a gallon here. That means that on my days off I am sitting right here. At least I will get some projects done! I have been having an EXTREMLY bad case of homesickness for the past couple of weeks so keeping busy is a good thing.

Be safe.....

PS - Wonky is a very techical term for SO not straight.

Some pictures of my quilts

Decided to add some pictures of quilts. This first one is of my mom with the very first quilt I made. It is SO very wonky!!!! But the great thing about moms is that they/we love everything their/our children make so it was OK. Yes, I plan to make her another now that my quilting skills have improved (somewhat).

OK, I have a blog. Now what do I do?

Does anyone really want to read the ramblings of this pea brain. Don't answer that, it might depress me too much.

Guess I will put stuff on here so you can find out what is (or what is not) going on here in Maryland
